“From Shelter to Shelter”
Beginning in the summer of 2004, several of my family members and I began backpacking short sections of the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina. My uncle Brant (now in his early eighties) and my father Lane had talked about doing this for at least 20 years, but only until Brant’s […]

Sniffles Update: Sad News
22 May 2008Most of you have been keeping up with Sniffles and the challenges he’s faced. To bring everyone up to date, Sniffles has been at NRVC for over 2 weeks now. His original hurdle was to gain an appetite so that he could get enough weight on him to undergo treatment for the heartworms. […]

Sniffles has heartworms and other parasites which means that he is […]
Sniffles Update: Sadly, all was not as it seemed
24 April 2008First, Sniffles is doing better physically. However he is going to stay over another night. The IV is out and he is eating better.
The sad… sad… news— actually infuriating news…
NRVC X-rayed Sniffles head and found a bullet and shrapnel lodged behind his jaw. So it appears that his deformity was caused by […]
Sniffles Update: Visits to the Vet
23 April 2008Jody, Sniffles foster mom, took him to North Roswell Veterinary Clinic (NRVC) where Dr. Shepherd gave him a thorough examination. He seemed ok but, Dr. Shepherd found that he has parasites and heartworms. The Dr. said his lungs and heart sound good.
Dr Shepherd doubts the age that Douglas County gave us of 1-2 […]
